I'm a huge fan of black and white photographs. There's something timeless about them that I just love. When I look around my house at the artwork of my children on the walls, I notice they're pretty much all black and white - particularly the larger ones. So, when I'm at my desk doing the post production on the images from a session, I will evaluate an image to determine whether it should be presented in colour or black and white. Then I came across this one of Norah. Now, Norah isn't your average, run of the mill kind of kid. This girl lives out loud. She is full of spirit, style and certainly marches to the beat of her own drum. She's so much fun to photograph because she's up for anything and the camera loves her! I love, love this image in black and white but I'm torn because Norah is anything but black and white. So I'll show it both ways - Norah, you pick!

An ancient proverb says that the eyes are the windows to the soul. There's something really special about this shot for me as I feel like not only can I see the most sparkly pair of blue eyes, I can also see the effervescent kindness that is such a big part of Victoria. I feel like I could hand her the tiniest baby bird, and she would cradle it gently. I can imagine her watching a fuzzy caterpillar make it's way slowly across the sidewalk while she sits on her first two-wheeler. And I imagine in the future her what-I-want-to-be-when-I-grow-up list will at some point include a cupcake baker, a veterinarian and a mommy. And with those kind eyes and that beautiful smile, I just know Victoria will accomplish anything she wishes.

I finally got my hair cut last week. I 'bobbed' it. I've been dying to for months. Zoe's bob has finally grown out enough that I'm allowed to have a bob again. (Not exactly sure when mother-daughter matching hairstyles went out of fashion but according to my 13 year old, it's not as cool as it used to be.) So, yesterday morning I was having a good hair day. No, a GREAT hair day. The bob was smooth, under control and lookin' good. I was rocking the bob. Then the doorbell rang and I met my gorgeous client, Kathy, for the first time. I hate my hair.
